May Is Motorcycle Month Allstate Takes Advantage Cincinnati Attorney Anthony Castelli Says Don't Buy

Cincinnati motorcycle attorney sticker
As a  motorocycle accident lawyer in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 30 years  I am acutely aware of Allstate's activities. In a word, they fight tooth and nail and attempt to delay paying injury victims.
So if you are looking to protect yourself with uninsured/underinsured motorist benefits look at another insurance company. They are even hustling motorcylists with their latest promotion on Allstate's facebook page.

As I look back over 25 civil injury personal injury trials, several of them were against Allstate insurance since they offered meager settlements. With a company like Allstate, as a motorcycle accident attorney  I needed to put together  a track record  against them of going to trial. That way they should pay attention to you when you represent an injured motorcycle rider or other personal injury victim.

There are some lawyers that are hesitant to take cases against Allstate because they know they will have to fight. With a good case I don't worry about going up against Allstate. The jury system normally works. Allstate counts on wearing you down or having an opponent that does not want to work the case up.

This video is about a personal injury car accident case I went  to trial against Allstate. It was a great success as you will hear about. This was against their liability coverages. Every case is different so this is just an example of what happened and does not mean that I can do the same for you, or I will even take your case. But if I think your case is righteous, then let's take off the boxing gloves, and let me fight with all my heart for you to get justice against Allstate or any other insurance company that fails to offer fair value.

A word of caution. If you try to go alone and then come to me there is a possibility that you could have made a fatal mistake that devaued your case to the point that was what was otherwise a good case that I would take, is now one that does not merit my investment of time and money as the chances of succcess have been diminished.

I'm happy to speak with you at no cost and no obligation at 513-621-2345. If you are too injured to come to me I'll come to you.

Cincinnati Chrome Divas Golf Outing Promoted on Cincinnati biker Life

Cincinnati Biker Lawyer Supports the Chrome divas
The Cincinnati Chrome Divas, an all lady Cincinnati motorcycle group, are having a charity golf outing. Zan and Lisa Harris were recent guests on Cincinnati biker Life at the request of Cincinnati motorcycle accident lawyer Anthony Castelli. They talked about the upcoming event and the importance of the charity the proceeds would go to.

The pinkribbongirls.org will be the beneficiary of the proceeds of this years golf outing. This is the fourth annual golf outing and  is certain to be lots of fun. The event is Saturday April 28th at the Neumann golf course. This weekend is the cut off to sign up for the event . So you have about 48 hours to get in touch with the Cincinnati Chrome Divas . You can call 513-307-0642 to sign yourself or as many golfers as you have. You are welcome to call with your own foursome and ringers are welcome. The Divas would love to see one or two of the participants win the hole in one contest . One for a car and one for a motorcycle. Also they will have super prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and the winning foursome. The swag bags everyone gets are worth the price of admission, just $75. This also includes lunch.

Come on out and support these great ladies. This will be a first class event raising funds for the Pink Ribbon Girls. All the money will go to help ladies that are fighting cancer and need a hand to watch the kids, clean the house , make the meals, all the things that a cancer fighter just doesn't have the strength to do.  Hopefully someday we will find more and better cures for cancer, but for now the fight is being fought by these valiant ladies right here in Cincinnati Ohio.

Cincinnati Motorcycle Lawyer Supports Bootsy Collins Charity Event For Tornado Victims

As a member of the Greater Cincinnati Motorcycle community I consider it an obligation to support charitable events. The Bootsy Collins foundation is putting on a fundraiser this Sunday, April 15th with proceeds going towards relief for the victims of the recent tornado .  Mathew 25 Ministries will distribute the proceeds. New Richmond Ohio was one of the communities hit especially hard by the tornado.

Motorcycle riders, bikers if you will, often get a bad rap. The truth is that motorcycle riders are big supporters of others less fortunate. Not only do they support their own motorcycle group charities , but  they support charitable causes of all kinds. I bet they come out in force to join with others in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky communities.

Several months ago many bikers attended the Cincinnati Center for Autism charity event. One of the bands was Prizoner, a local favorite at motorcycle events around Ohio. One of the  celebrities giving his time there was Bootsy Collins. Now his foundation is working hard to put this event together. Here is the link to the facebook event page http://www.facebook.com/events/262789587148922/ .

It's going to be 12-9pm at Newport on the Levee. Don't let forecasts of  rain keep you away. There is an indoor venue as Jefferson hall. They will be rocking the house with some great music. I was honored to have Wendy Oakley and her Posse come out to Cincinnati Biker Life Radio show to promote the event. they will be one of the bands at the show. Don't miss it!

I Crashed My Harley Davidson Motorcycle in Cincinnati and Am Hurt What Now

If you crash your Harley Davidson Motorcycle or any other motorcycle in Cincinnati, or any part of Ohio as a Cincinnati Ohio motorcycle accident lawyer that rides let me makes some suggestions.

A lot of you play tough and try to walk of your injury . Many bikers are often more worried about their motorcycle than they are about their own well being. If you have any injury let yourself be transported to the nearest hospital to get checked out.

Your biggest concerns should be:

1. Your health
2. Getting fairly compensated for your injury
3. Your bike

I wrote a book the Ohio Motorcycle Bible that can walk you through the steps you need to take to protect yourself.

YOUR HEALTH AFTER A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

Make sure you go to the emergency room the day of the accident. You may not feel that bad, if you are lucky, but you never know what may be lurking such as a concussion head injury. Then seek follow up with your family doctor and have him direct your medical care. do not sdtay too long with a family doctor if you have orthopedic injuries. You will want to see a specialist.

Of course if you were obviously injured such as a broken arm, shoulder , leg or other injury , your care will be directed from the doctors that see you in the hospital. This is true especially if you have internal injuries. Once you get out of the hospital follow up with your doctor on a regular basis and do not allow gaps in treatment.

Also document your injury with photographs.

Getting Fairly Compensated For Your Motorcycle Injury

You can call youe own motorcycle insurance company and report the accident. Do not allow the wrongdoers INSURANCE COMPANY TO TAPE YOUR STATEMENT AS ONE MISSTATEMENT CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU.

Start a file and put everything about your accident in one place.

If you can not work inform your employer and provie them with a doctor's excuse and keep your own copy.

Do not allow there to be gaps in your medical treatment.

Follow your doctor's advice.

If you have a serious injury seek the help of an experienced motorcycle accident injury lawyer. Get someone local to Ohio and your area so the lawyer knows the customs in your local courts and can meet with you in person as often as necessary.

You may be surprised to learn that there is a strong likelihood that a motorcycle accident lawyer that rides and has handled motorcycle accidnts is likely able to put more inyour pocket even after attoreny fees come out than you could do for yourself. Without a lawyer the insurance company has no real incentive to pay you what your case is worth.

The American Motorcycle Rally Founder Comes To Cincinnati Biker Life Radio Show

The American Motorcycle Rally founder Jimmy Huffman was recently interviewed live by Cincinnati Motorcycle Accidnent Lawyer Anthony Castelli on his Cincinnati Biker Life Radio show on WAIF FM Cincinnati. The American Motorcycle rally is in its inaugural year.

The rally will encompass a 7000 mile trek around the United States, over nine days. The ride will test a motorcycle rider's endurance and stamina as well as their ability to plan and follow direction and respond to the directions to get to the next stop as well as pick up much needed points along the way.

Jimmy Huffman along with partner Greg Sarff came up with this idea after riding in many Iron Butt challenges and finding that many were not well organized or missed important points or just did not pay off as advertised. Jimmy and Greg , out of Columbus, Ohio (Jimmy is a former 10 year cop in Columbus) wanted to put on an endurance motorcycle run that would have all the best stuff they learned about these events.

They also wanted to help out a charity and money from the event,  besides going to the riders will also go to Charity. The charity recently chosen was Nationwide Children's hospital.   This hospital has been reported by US News and World Report's as America's best childrens's hospitals.

I questioned Jimmy extensively for over 60 minutes on how how they were going to pull this off. He said sponsors had already covered up to $250,000 in prize money and
prizes. He looked me in the eye the whole time and never flinched. Having started at the beginning of the year they have already come a long way.

I became convinced that this is the real deal and you can count on everything that Jimmy Huffman says to be true.
The web site to get information is http://americanmotorcyclerally.com/

Jimmy and his core group are all listed there with their contact information You can register right from the site. The registration cost is $1000. This might
seem like a lot , but most riders are getting sponsered that will gain great publicity from being associated with this event.

Jimmy discussed the two goals of the american motorcycle ride:

The first is to promote a true motorcycle rally for the riders to have a great experience. The second is for all profits to help those is need. This ride will start in Columbus, Ohio and circle the United states out to Las Vegas then will finish in Columbus.  It's the only ride of its kind ever to be sanctioened by the American Motorcycle Association.

So if you want to put yourself to the challenge of a life time and possibly win $150,000 get on in the American Motorcycle Ride. June will be here before you know it. act now. Get a local motorcycle affiliated business or any business to sponsor you for the $1000. Hold some promotions in your city and get ready to rumble in what will certainly be the start of the greatest Amreican Motorcycle Rally in history. That's what Jimmy Huffman and Greg Sarff envision . They are dedicated and smart enough to pull this off.

Motorcycle Music Pat Savage Comes To Cincinnati

As the creator of Cincinnati Biker Life Radio show, host ,  motorcycle rider and motorcycle injury lawyer I've gotten to meet a lot of cool motorcyclists from all walks of life. The latest is Pat "Doc" Savage. We tried to bring Pat Savage to Cincinnati on Cincinnati Biker Life .

Unfortunately Pat could not negotiate through the phone lines from Thailand to Cincinnati. However we got to "talk" with him through the medium of facebook on the Cincinnati Biker life facebook page. And we played 5 songs off his new CD Wind and Fire. The title cut is my favorite song

Then when I got home I learned his album was #1 at Totalbikerfm.com - Total Biker FM - 24 hour rock, punk and metal music. In Pat Savage's own words here is a little insight into Wind and Fire.
Wind & Fire is inspired by the literally thousands of firefighters all over the world saving lives selflessly. As you here by the words it starts at the firehouse as they race off to the fire to save some life if they can get them out it in time. I represent Wind & Fire MC as International Celebrity Ambassador to help spread the word about what firemen do every single day and how they put their lives at risk for us.
So we never did get to talk to Pat but someday that will change. Either we get him on the phone or I'll tape a skype interview or maybe he'll come riding through this way. Plus I want to hear about that Motorcycle riding TV series on riding he's involved with. You can tell from what he writes and how he plays music he's one cool down to earth good man.

Cincinnati Lawyer Challenges Eric Deters at Autism Rocks 3

The Cincinnati Center for Autism is holding a big fund raising event Sunday February 12, 2012. There are going to be over 50 celebrities including former Cincinnati Red Lee May, Former Cincinnati Bengal Ickey Woods, and Pro wrestling super star Sean Casey. Here's the link http://www.rockinforautism.com/

You get to mingle with all these stars. So bring your camera and something for them to autograph. That's why they are there. One of the celebrities was listed at Eric "the Bulldog" Deters. That got me to thinking since I have a radio show on www.waif883.org called Cincinnati Biker Life on Thursday evening at 8, since I'm also a lawyer, that it was time for Eric Deters and myself to wrestle for charity. Especially if we could get Sean Casey to be  the special referee.

So I threw down a challenge to Eric Deters on his facebook page. Here's what I said:

I challenge Eric Deters to a wrestling match at Autism Rocks 3.......Rockin for Autism with Sean Casey to be the special referee. Loser donates $250 to Cincinnati Center for Autism or has to leave town .Eric i'm a better lawyer, radio host and wrestler than you . Time to throw down Chihuahua I mean Bulldog. In fact I'll wrestle you and Bill Cunningham in a handicap match. it's for a great cause.

It did not take long for him to reply:

" My fighting days are over I'm becoming old and decrepit. Well so much for the bulldog.

I now turning my attention to Bill Cunningham. I'm not sure if Bill was invited or not but I'm daring him as  I called out the Bulldog to wrestle me one round and if I lose I'll donate $250 to the Cincinnati center for autism.

Of course this is all for laughs and to publicize and support the Cincinnati Center For Autism . They are working miracles with these children everyday. What CCA does is not for laughs, it's for real. They allow these autistic  children and theirr parents a much greater quality of life, by the hard work they do with these children.

I wrote this on this biker site because David Kahle , father of an autistic child is the organizer of this event  and all around super guy and avid biker. Since we take care of our own lets take care of the Cincinnati Center for Autism and turn out february 12. it will be a great time.

Hoka Hey Motorcycle Riders Their Story On Cincinnati Biker Life

As a Cincinnati Motorcycle rider , motorcycle lawyer and programmer for the radio show Cincinnati Biker Life it was a great honor to do a show on the Hoka Hey Challenge . What the hey is the Hoka Hey you may ask. Many seasoned motorcycle riders have not even heard of the Hoka Hey.

I thank Jimmy Kay of Two Wheel Thunder TV for turning me on to the Hoka Hey and a local rider from Greater Cincinnati Curtis Belcher. A 50 year old postal worker and Free Mason. I learned from Jimmy that the Hoka Hey is the longest motorcycle challenge in the world. Last year the ride went from Florida to Alsaka.

This year the ride was close to 14,000 miles. It started in Phoenix and ended in Nova Scotia. Will Barclay was the winner both years. Last year the first place price was $500,000 and Will pocketed the money. This year although Will was the first one to finish no winner has been declared. There is plenty of controversy surrounding this. But the essence of the ride remains pure and the Spirit of the ride transcends any controversy.

Last night on Cincinnati Biker Life we had the Hoka Hey call in. Hoka Hey Riders from all over the country called into WAIF Cincinnati studio to tell a little of their story. I started taking calls live at 8:28 PM and the last one ended at 9:58 PM.

The callers included Blacky, a 58 year old former Texas game warden that finished this years ride, as well as Will Barclay who collects adventures and did not even reveal his status as first place finisher both years. Junie Rose rider extraordinary crashed and got back up and finished this year. She's trying to get blankets to give to the Sioux. please give her a hand

This is what Barclay wrote on his first year experience:

The Hoka Hey, with all its imperfection, was a breath of fresh air in a world where destructive political correctness and unrealistic expectations and blaming others has become almost universal. As I rode it I was surprised and pleased to see that there are great swaths of North America, even in the lower 48 where there is still abundant wildlife and green space. Where people still socialize from their front porch instead of watching TV. The overwhelming majority of the riders, (though not all) especially those who stuck it out, cherish the experience and want to do it again. Don’t take my word for it. Ask Mark Storey, the rider from Australia who finished second. Ask Ben Hudak who suffered a terrible accident in Canada and came on to Homer in a truck to be with the other challengers. Ask Alex Hood from Colorado who was badly injured in an accident in Arizona and who is signed up to ride again this year. Ask Greg Darby from Florida who used the Hoka Hey to raise many thousands of dollars for lieukemia. Ask them to give up their coins. Read the rider’s stories and blog comments in their own words on the hokaheychallenge.com website. No one fooled these people and they are not conspirators. They are teachers and police officers and retirees and middle managers and students and day laborers who had the experience of a lifetime. An experience they could not have duplicated on their own.

Junie says a big part is raising the consciousness of the plight of the American Indians especially the Lakota. Here's an exerpt from Wikepedia about the Hoka Hey:
The inaugural 2010 challenge took participants along a mandatory route on back roads across the United States and Canada. The route scrossed numerous mountain ranges, 33 Indian reservations, 25 national forests, eight deserts and six national parks. Challenge routes travel secondary roads with directions revealed at a series of specific checkpoints. The event guidelines prohibit speeding and require contenders to sleep outside throughout the entire course.
Many of the riders talked about the sleep deprivation and the sprituality they experienced as well as the bond between riders which was evident from all the callers many names I just can't recall.  Here's two video's that give some flesh to the experience though I would not profess to even be close to the experience having just talked to those who did.

Cincinnati Personal injury Attorney Creates Ohio Motorcycle safety Kit

As a Cincinnati personal injury lawyer I see a lot of broken people with bad injuries. Some of the worst injuries I handle are motorcycle accidents. These accident injury cases run the gamut from highway construction defects, car cutting of motorcyclists, cars violating the motorcyclists' right of way by turning in front of them at intersections or pulling out from stop streets , to rear end collisions.

Also there are passenger claims against the driver of the motorcycle as well. And even accidents between two motorcycle riding together and one failed to watch the roadway ahead. The bottom line though is that motorcyclists often get a raw deal either through their own lack of knowledge or because of prejudices against motorcyclists.

So I wrote The Ohio Motorcycle Bible - The Guide to Protecting Ohio Motorcyclists and Their Families. This has some great information for Ohio motorcyclists. I added to this a tire gauge and a Watch For Motorcycle Bumper Sticker. At the recent Cyclefest Cincinnati I gave out over 200 of these Ohio Motorcycle Safety Kits.

Below is a video of an interview I gave  to  Two Wheel Thunder TV about the Ohio Motorcycle Bible.

As a personal injury accident lawyer it was an honor to have Jimmy Kay interview me about this book. You can get the book as a free download at my web site.  The Ohio Motorcycle Safety Kit is always complimentary . Just catch me at a local Cincinnati motorcycle event and I'd be happy to give one to you.

Cincinnati Ohio Biker Lawyer gets million mile biker and former nasvy seal to give 5 best safety tips

As a Cincinnati Ohio Motorcycle accident lawyer it's so great to meet people out of the motorcycle community. My radio show at Cincinnati Biker life has helped me meet so many different motorcycle riders.

Last night on the show I had the privilege to have two ladies from  Lady Riders Against Cancer on my show. These two ladies , were such a joy to talk to . I marveled at the courage and strength and was humbled , as I have been for so many guests, by their courage and willingness to help others. These are lady riders in every sense of the word.

After we finished the interview my good friend Chopper Charlie came on the radio show with lovely Lady Blackjack. Chopper is a million mile rider, close to 70 years old and served in the military under every president from JFK to Busch III. A former navy seal, he was one of the first members of the first group of Navy Seals.

As always he came prepared with stories and 5 key motorcycle safety tips that has kept him out of harms way the last million miles of motorcycle riding. Here they are. I hope  they will keep you safe.

Top five Motorcycle  Safety tips from Chopper Charlie

(1) Assume you're invisible: "ALWAYS" Remember, everything and everybody, is out to kill you ...
Hope for the best, prepare for the Worst.
Assume that [cager] will turn, or pull out in your path ... with or without a turn signals.
Everybody but YOU, has the Right-a-Way if you want to live.
A wreck is a contest between man and metal. - - - Care to guess if Man will lose?

(2) Watch your speed. "ALWAYS" know your bike and it’s capabilities.
The bike will never stop as quickly as you think it should.
Develop an intimate loving relationship with your brakes, especially your front brakes.
Seek out some safe pavement, start slowly, find the fine line between maximum braking and a locked wheel, and then do it again, and again until it becomes part of you.

(3) Check your mirrors often. "ALWAYS" look around you, look off to the sides as well as in front.
Look to see what doesn't belong there? Fine tune your peripheral vision.
Think before you act & leave your ego at home.
Don't ride along next to, or right behind Mr. Peterbilt, or grandpa’s motor home.
If one of those BIG tires blows up? Which they do regularly, it will quickly get ugly.
Unless you just love dodging huge chunks of flying rubber that will kill you.
Keep your distance or better yet ... Speed up to get around them and live.
When you start to pass - - - "Haul Ass" - - - get out of the danger zone as fast as possible.

(4) Pay attention to your riding. "ALWAYS" Stay out of peoples blind spots.
Yes, maybe that is a half-naked girl over there. Meanwhile, you could be drifting toward Big, Big Trouble.
Focus @ 60 MPH you travel 88 feet/sec. Remember, your bike goes where you're looking.
Maybe, that trucker that's about to run your ass over, has a better view of her then you do.

(5) Maintain your ride, check the belt's, chains, etc. "ALWAYS" Make sure your tires are right.
None of this stuff matters unless your skins are right.

Ohio Motorcycle Deaths and Injury Down Still Too Many

Ohio motorcycle deaths are down but there are still too many injuries and deaths that could be avoided.   In fact there is a lead story in the Columbus paper about the decrease of fatal motorcycle accidents in Ohio.

The Dayton paper reported on Ohio motorcycle crashes being down. The Hamilton Journal news reported on motorcycle crashes being down. Here's the actual statistics:

Motorcycle crashes and fatalities
State of Ohio:
2011 to date: 2,919 crashes; 120 deaths
2010: 4,382 crashes; 168 deaths
2009: 4,183 crashes; 161 deaths
Butler County
2011 to date: 82 crashes; 2 deaths
2010: 131 crashes; 6 deaths
2009: 99 crashes; 3 deaths
Hamilton County
2011 to date: 183 crashes; 7 deaths
2010: 259 crashes; 4 deaths
2009: 270 crashes; 8 deaths
Warren County
2011 to date: 41 crashes; 1 death
2010: 80 crashes; 3 deaths
2009: 71 crashes; 5 deaths
Montgomery County
2011 to date: 112 crashes; 2 deaths
2010: 182 crashes; 8 deaths
2009: 156 crashes; 3 deaths
Greene County
2011 to date: 50 crashes; no deaths
2010: 62 crashes; 3 deaths
2009: 57 crashes; 1 death

However I would argue that part of the reason is the inordinate rain this summer . In fact with the beautiful days we've had lately there has been a spate of crashes. The run the gamut from the car turning in front of the motorcycle, failing to yield the right of way , to single motorcycle crashes and injury to passengers of motorcycle crashes.  Of course there is still some good riding weather left and the crash date for 2011 is to date. Though with 2919 crashes it does appear that this is a substantial reduction from all of 2010 when there was 4382.

But don't tell this to the families that have lost a loved one to a motorcycle crash wrongfully caused. I've read about plenty of Ohio motorcycle deaths recently .As a motorcycle accident lawyer it's hard to believe the double wammy of motorists acting ignorantly and bikers failing to control their motorcycles. Ricky Perkins was killed when a car came across three lanes of traffic. Timothy Verdinski was killed when a motorist turned in front of him. Both negligent acts of the auto drivers. Melinda Hipsher just died while riding as a passenger when a motorcyclist lost control.

Construction sites can be virtual traps for the motorcyclist. At least now ODOT doesn't use blackout tape for more that two weeks anymore since a motorcyclist I represent was killed as a result of worn and slippery tape.
